NL #3 – Expectations. Expectations. Expectations.

Thought #1 – Expectations

We can be so hard on ourselves–expecting more from ourselves than we do from others. Why do we do this? Why do we put unnecessary pressure on ourselves? Isn’t life hard enough without the added pressure?

I know, everyone expects the best from you all the time, right? They expect you to be strong for them, and for yourself. They expect that you won’t make a mistake or get angry or become ‘hysterical’. Isn’t that what their reactions tell you, even though they may never say it? But here is the reality, you do not have to live up to their expectations.

Thought #2 – Expectations

If you spend your life living up to other people’s expectations, you will destroy your mental state.  After all, which expectations do you choose to live up to—Sarah’s? Bob’s? Jennifer’s? Tyrone’s? I hope you see the problem with trying to do this: it won’t ever work.

Thought #3 – Expectations

Set your own expectations and make sure they are based in reality.
